Soft seal globe valve
In the globe valve, in order to prevent the soft seals from being damaged by heat, a radiating device is installed in front of the soft seals, which is composed of a metal sheet with a large radiating surface. In the case of oxygen service, this design is not sufficient to prevent the fire of soft seals. To prevent failure of this valve, the inlet passage outside the valve seat must be expanded so that one end of the inlet passage forms a pocket so that the hot gas collects away from the seal. In the design of soft sealing surface, it is important to consider to prevent the soft sealing element from being extruded or caused by medium pressure displacement.
Soft sealing materials include rubber-clad discs, PTFE (or other plastic) seats or metal discs inlaid with nonmetallic materials, as well as the popular hard and soft double sealing disc construction. This type of soft seal valve is often used in steam and gas media, especially in low pressure copper storage check valves. The closing force required by the soft seal valve is extremely small, and the soft seal disc is easy to be replaced. As long as the sealing surface of the valve seat is not damaged, the replacement of the soft seal of the valve disc will soon restore the performance of the valve.
1. Disc covered with rubber soft seal globe valve
